Idhayangal is delighted to announce the inauguration of the 3rd joint NHM-Idhayangal Type1 diabetes specialized care centre for type 1diabetes based at Thanjavur Raja Mirasdar Government hospital on 13th August. With 3 centres at Chennai Salem and Thanjavur set up within one month period that is life-saving for thousands of poor children with type 1diabetes is a true testament to the leadership of NHM Mission Director Dr Arun Thamburaj, Team NHM, respective Deans of the Government hospitals, all concerned Heads of Departments and our most valued donors. Idhayangal's dream of ensuring high quality Type1 diabetes care to the most underprivileged across Tamilnadu took a huge leap with the inauguration of Type1 diabetes specialized care centre at Salem Government hospital on August 4th, following the opening of such centre in Chennai, this centre boasts of high quality analogue insulins, glucometers, glucose strips, glucose sensors, retinal camera, POC devices for all bloods and 24*7 dedicated diabetes educator, we are immensely grateful to NHM Mission Director Dr Arun Thamburaj for coming all the way from Chennai to inaugurate the centre, NHM team, Dean and HOD Diabetes at Salem GH, our generous sponsors from Rasi Seeds Chairman and MD, Rotary DG Salem and Rotarians from Elite Club, all wellwishers to make this dream come true, Idhayangal along with NHM is inaugurating more centres at Thanjavur, Trichy, Tirunelveli, Tiruvarur and Dharmapuri in the coming months so that no single poor child with type 1diabetes across state suffers for want of best treatment to lead happy healthy productive lives, deeply grateful for all your support

Great day for underprivileged children with type 1diabetes and their families across Tamilnadu state with the inauguration of first of its kind Type1 diabetes specialized care centre at Institute of Child Health, Chennai, joint initiative of Idhayangal NHM DME and ICH, this centre is the first step in the thousand mile journey of ensuring no poor child with type 1diabetes in India suffers for want of best treatment to lead happy healthy productive lives. This centre boasts of supporting children with best insulins analogues in penfill cartridges, glucometers with 100 glucose strips per month per child, 40 pain-free needles per month per child, access to advanced glucose sensors and insulin pump therapy for deserving indicated children, educational materials, full time dedicated diabetes educators, HBA1C, Thyroid tests, hemoglobin, kidney function tests all in POC devices with drop of blood, advanced AI enabled Retinal camera for avoidable blindness and 24*7 emergency helpline, all completely free of cost. Further centres are getting started at Salem GH, Tanjore Raja Mirasdar hospital, Trichy, Tirunelveli, Tiruvarur and Dharmapuri, dream is to set up centres in each of 38 districts of Tamilnadu so that no single poor child is left behind. Awesome attitude and determination from 16-year old Yuvashri battling malignant osteosarcoma, left leg amputation, multiple chemos, brittle type1 diabetes on 4 times daily insulin, severe poverty with a hyperrich heart and no dad. This bright kid calls me the morning after surgery with such positivity with no hint of fear or anger at her condition, thanking God for tolerable pain and looking forward to the physio visit!
