NHM Idhayangal collaborative group is delighted to announce the inauguration of 10th Type1 diabetes specialized care centre at Chidambaram (Cuddalore Medical college hospital), around 272 Type1 diabetes children and their families lives are transformed in Cuddalore district by the inauguration of this state-of-art centre empowered with all investigations free of cost, analogue insulins in penfill cartridges, glucometers, glucose strips, retinal camera, dedicated diabetes educators and 24*7 emergency helpline on par with best centres world wide. We are greatly indebted to NHM Mission Director Dr Arun Thamburaj for his presence both as NHM MD and former District Collector Cuddalore, entire NHM team, Dean Prof Mahendran, Dr Ramanathan HOD Pediatrics and very importantly Rotarians from Rotary E-club of Metrodynamix Coimbatore who funded the centre in Chidambaram. With another 8 centres in the pipeline under the guidance of our NHM MD, we are confident to make all our dreams come true of ensuring no single poor child with type 1diabetes across Tamilnadu is left behind, we are hopeful that our collaborative template can transform Type1 diabetes care across our great nation. In a refreshing change compared to lot of youngsters self absorbed with their gadgets and playstations, five 10th Grade students from Karur Mahathi, Mahilan, Keerthi, Shivani and Mrithula took it on themselves to raise 1 lac for our deserving children with type 1diabetes by organizing a charity cricket match and run, it was heartwarming to have these young champions and change makers visit idhayangal yesterday to interact with children and donate funds, our great nation has an awesome future with such youngsters, all the five champions and more importantly their parents are Idhayangal stars of the month

NHM & Idhayangal collaborative partnership is delighted to announce the inauguration of 9th Type1 diabetes specialized care centre at Tiruppur GH supporting close to 250 children with type 1diabetes across Tirupur districts, it was a heartwarming moment to have the top leadership of Health Department of State come down to the level of our children literally to get this awesome photo, we are greatly indebted to our Health Secretary Tamilnadu Dr Senthil kumar IAS, NHM Mission Director Dr Arun Thamburaj, Dean Dr Manonmani, Dr Muruganathan, entire DEIC and Pediatrics team, children and families.The centre is equipped with state-of-art investigations and treatment including pen insulins, glucometers glucose strips glucose sensors, diabetes educator and 24*7 emergency helpline, 7 more centres are planned under NHM directive this year with a dream of ensuring every single underprivileged child with Type1 diabetes is within 2 hour bus drive to our Type1 diabetes specialized care centre anywhere in our state getting access to best services on par or better than the Western world. We are deeply grateful to NHM Mission Director Dr Arun Thamburaj for his immense support to the program, under his stewardship there has been a 6-fold reductions in diabetic emergency admissions across state with a 1.5 % reduction in Hba1c translating to great reductions in blindness and kidney failure, the entire Health Department, NHM team, Tirupur Dean and Doctors are Idhayangal stars of the month

Nothing seems to deter Yuvashri, this awesome kid, just 16 years of age has fought back brittle type 1diabetes on 4 times a day insulin, poverty, no dad, osteosarcoma an aggresive bone cancer in left leg, above knee amputation, 6 cycles of chemo, severe hair loss, lung metastasis and what not within this tender age, always a radiant smile, walking to idhayangal last week with state-of-art prosthesis courtesy Idhayangal wellwisher. Yuvashri has enrolled in a beautician course, wants to become an enterprenur so that she can donate to Idhayangal, Yuvashri and her mother are Idhayangal stars of the month

Such a honour and privilege to have Prof Dr Graham Ogle and Shaun Miller from Life for a Child Australia visit Idhayangal centre Coimbatore and Salem GH last week. To be supporting 65000 children with type 1diabetes in 50 countries world wide by LFAC team led by Prof Graham Ogle with only one expectation of ensuring no poor child with type 1diabetes world wide is left behind is so Godly. 3700 children supported by Idhayangal today are happy and healthy because of life-saving support from Team LFAC. To be told by Graham that Idhayangal outcomes in terms of DKA admissions and Hba1c is the best among all supported countries and on par with Sydney outcomes was truly humbling. Joys of Idhayangal work where the best award is the love and pure affection of our children, Nishi from deep interior Salem district with uncontrolled brittle type 1diabetes shows her gratitude after Idhayangal supported her with insulin pump by presenting us with best guava fruits from her garden. This Godly innocent child was so full of happiness giving these fruits to Team Idhayangal, precious gifts that mere money can't buy, Nishi is idhayangal star of the month

Idhayangal's dream of covering every nook and corner of Tamilnadu state received a huge boost with the initiation of our joint NHM Idhayangal Type1 diabetes programme at Tirupathur GH, this is the first non-medical college district headquarters hospital supported through this unique NHM NGO initiative, it was so heartwarming to see all deserving children with type 1diabetes from Tirupathur district showing huge enthusiasm in Diabetes education, happy to see children from interior Tirupathur district villages receive best analogue insulins in pens, glucometers, glucose strips, fridges, ice boxes for cold chain storage and 24*7 support giving them an opportunity to fightback, profusely thank NHM MD Dr Arun Thamburaj for his absolute trust and unwavering support to T1D families,Team NHM, Tirupathur district Collector Tmt Sivasoundaravalli for sparing her valuable one hour to interact with children and families, JD Tirupathur district Dr Gnanameenal, DEIC lead Dr Senthil and all doctors at Tirupathur GH, all children and families are Idhayangal stars of the month
