Idhayangal begins its journey Following the Arjun incident, Idhayangal was started with a simple commitment—to ensure that children living with Type 1 Diabetes receive the care, support, and awareness they deserve. Beginning with just ₹5,000 and 10 children, the journey started with compassion and determination.

2018–2021

The beginning

Taking Type 1 Diabetes care across Tamil Nadu Idhayangal began visiting districts across Tamil Nadu and working closely with Government Medical Colleges and government healthcare institutions to identify and support children with Type 1 Diabetes.

2022–2024

Medical

Expanding support, year after year With every year, Idhayangal grew its reach, strengthening partnerships with government hospitals, conducting awareness activities, supporting children and families, and building a wider network of Type 1 Diabetes care and support across Tamil Nadu.

2025

Village outreach

First Specialised Care Centre established in Chennai Idhayangal established its first Specialised Care Centre (SCC) in Chennai, creating a dedicated space for comprehensive Type 1 Diabetes care, education, monitoring, and family support.

2025–2026

Corporate awareness

Building a statewide care network From one centre to 14 Specialised Care Centres, Idhayangal expanded its collaboration with government hospitals to bring specialised Type 1 Diabetes support closer to children and families across Tamil Nadu.

A growing movement for every child Today, Idhayangal supports a network of 4,200+ children living with Type 1 Diabetes, working alongside government healthcare systems to strengthen access to insulin, diabetes education, monitoring, and ongoing support.
